What makes DecisionCraft different?
There are many publishing consultants, but few combine deep cross-functional expertise with genuine technical capability. We bring both — half a decade of successful consulting for publishers of all types, as comfortable solving complex technical challenges as understanding the realities of day-to-day publishing life. We deliver with the rigour you'd expect from a top-tier consultancy, and a clear focus on what publishers actually value.
How much does it cost?
We strive always for a fair fee to delivery work that we can be proud of. So we won’t skimp on quality to be cheap. But this is publishing and we price pragmatically. Every project is scoped to fit your needs and budget. We take into account the complexity of the task, the length of engagement, and the realities of your organisation. No one-size-fits-all and no surprises.
Can we start small before committing?
Yes — we know that committing to a big engagement without knowing how we work together is a leap. We're happy to start with an exploratory conversation, and for most projects we build in a natural gateway: an initial phase of scoping and analysis, after which you'll have a clear picture of what the full project looks like, what it will cost, and whether it makes sense to continue.
Some of this sounds quite technical and complex - is this really for us?
Making the complex accessible is central to how we work. We're tireless in ensuring that publishers — whatever their technical background — can take full advantage of the insights that data and technology provide. If it doesn't make sense to you, we haven't done our job.
How do you handle sensitive data?
We often work within a businesses own systems so their technical teams can guarantee normal levels of security for their business. We treat all client data as confidential and handle it with care. We follow sensible security practices — secure file sharing, limited access, clear protocols — and we're always happy to sign NDAs. We often work within a businesses own systems so their technical teams can guarantee normal levels of security for their business. We only ever request the data we need, and we handle it with care.
We are a small team without technical infastructure. Can you work with that?
We're used to working with data wherever it lives: spreadsheets, legacy systems, the knowledge in people's heads. Part of what we do is help you make sense of what you have before deciding what to do with it.
How much of our time will this take?
We've worked with and in stretched teams and understand the reality. So we always strive to minimise the burden on your time. That means keeping meetings short and focused with clear agendas, doing our preparation in advance, never scheduling a call if an alternative will do, and only pulling people in when their input genuinely matters. You'll always know what's happening, but we will do the heavy lifting.
We have significant concerns about AI. Do we need to work with it?
We understand the wariness — and we share some of it. The concerns you mention are real and we take them seriously. We're not cheerleaders for AI — we're pragmatists. But here's what we also see: AI is already embedded in the platforms and supply chains publishers depend on. The risk isn't just missing an opportunity — it's falling behind while others adapt. We're here to help you navigate this thoughtfully, addressing the concerns head-on while making sure you're not left behind.
